The process of individuation and recognizing your unique life purpose

The process of healing, self-discovery, delving into one's psyche or soul, and recognizing one's destiny and the potential that lies within each of us can be compared to the metaphor of a house with a basement. First, we must descend into the proverbial basement, which symbolizes our unconscious—that part of our psyche that often drives our lives from a level not yet recognized, and whose recognition is essential for living in wholeness.

This first stage is not always easy and requires engagement, attention, and commitment. Nevertheless, it also constitutes the building of a solid foundation for the life to come and the recognition of the life mission or calling with which we came here. It is during this stage that our past is intensively healed, and we gradually return to our natural selves. The first insights, dreams, images, and symbols also appear, which point to our future, emerging mission, which will be gradually revealed to us in subsequent stages of healing, growth, and expansion of our consciousness.

Deep engagement in the process of healing and self-discovery, as well as the process of harmonizing our lives with the guidance of our higher self or soul, connects us with our natural sensitivity. We connect with sensitivity through emotionality, hence the crucial role of effective healing, returning to inner harmony, wholeness, and cohesion of spirit, body, and mind. We could say that sensitivity, emotionality, and attention directed toward the inner world, so rich and bearing so much valuable information and gifts, are represented by the anima—the inner woman. When a person sincerely engaged in their development and fulfillment process takes seriously the richness flowing from within and transforms it into some form of creativity (e.g., writing, painting, dancing, or other form of expression), the process of individuation (the process of achieving full psychological maturity and embodying one's full potential and destiny) gains significant momentum and reveals subsequent facets leading to inner wholeness, which, over time, is also reflected in their external life—very often in the discovery of a unique life purpose, life mission, or calling. Furthermore, this deep commitment to self-development leads to the recognition of unique gifts, passions, deeply rooted interests, talents, and strengths, which, when cultivated, create a composition that only that person can contribute to the world, thus enriching it.
