What does it mean to surrender to life, and how can we do that?

Letting go of control in our lives starts with letting go of an idea of how it should look alike. Of course, it doesn’t mean that we should be passive and not act according to and towards what is important to us; however, a life of true surrender starts with living from Presence. It is the state of being in harmony with unfolding life that is informed by its intelligence through our intuition, sensations, and feelings in the moment. When we live in Presence, there is time and space for reflecting on our past, to plan, think about practical aspects of our life, or think about our dreams and future, and how we want to accomplish them. We may have some preferences in that regard; however, it is good to stay flexible, observe life, and act accordingly. The main quality of living in the state of surrender is being rooted in Presence and trust in life, because it often sees the wider perspective of things we cannot see. And I think that can be considered as an essence of living in the state of surrender to life.

One of the most important skills we can learn is to be able to read life’s language, and this is possible due to our sensitivity and attentiveness to what life may communicate to us in two major ecosystems holding precious information for each of us. The first one is our inner environment in the realms of emotions, thoughts, bodily sensations, intuition, and dreams. The second is our daily environment. When we are sensitive and attentive, we can detect, reflect, and act on what generates our enthusiasm, aliveness, joy, and curiosity in the same way as we can reflect on various experiences that may communicate something important to us. This can be considered the basis of the art of paying attention and the art of tracking one’s life. And this is why we may be invited to step into the unrecognized territories and the unknown. But this is where the biggest growth and expansion happen. We may feel called to experiences that will help us strengthen our character, expand our consciousness, or lead us to discover the deeper meaning of our life and how we can serve others. Usually, these insights are the outcome of a hero's journey and many trials, challenges, and being in the unknown, where we actually learn to trust in life, and that life always guides us for our highest good. There is no better way to learn to trust life than through experiences, which are the outcome of following its guidance. This is where we can learn it experientially, rather than have an idea of what it would be to trust life. And this is where an unshakable trust in life is being born, cultivated, and becomes the knowing.
